Founder and medical director of Kartini Clinic. She is board certified in both pediatrics and adolescent medicine. She has practiced pediatrics for 14 years and adolescent medicine for eight years. She is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Society for Adolescent Medicine, the Academy for Eating Disorders, and EDAP (Eating Disorders Awareness and Prevention), and has a master's degree in public health (international health). She is also the proud parent of four (teens and young adults).
is a Board Certified Pediatrician who did her pediatric residency at OHSU and served as Chief Resident there until joining us full time. Dr Moshtael also holds a masters' degree in international studies and community health development.
is our Chief Operating Officer. She worked at a pediatric clinic for a number of years before helping found Kartini Clinic. Shanna has a Bachelor of Science from Portland State University and is the mother of a school-age son. She has a large Labrador Retriever as an exercise partner.
is a licensed Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practioner and Board Certified as both a Family Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner and a Clinical Specialist in Child/Adolescent Psychiatric Mental Health. In addition to working at the Clinic, Janiece is Assistant Professor of Nursing, Oregon Health and Science University, where she lectures and publishes extensively on psychiatric issues facing children and adolescents.
is a Family Therapist at the Kartini Clinic. She received her degree from Southern Connecticut University and has worked with EDAP (Eating Disorders Awareness and Prevention) in SW Washington and is a member of the advisory board for the Columbia River Eating Disorder Network. She is the mother of two small boys.
is a Family Therapist at the Kartini Clinic. She received her bachelor's from Brandeis University and her Master's in counseling from City University of Seattle. Prior to moving to the Portland area, she lived in Walla Walla, WA, where she had a private counseling and coaching practice. Her daughter is a law student at Lewis & Clark Law School.
is a Milieu Therapist in the Kartini Day Treatment Unit and also provides Individual and Group Therapy at the Kartini Clinic. Jade is a licensed clinical social worker who has been providing individual and family therapy to children, adolescents, and families in crisis in the Portland area for over 10 years.
is group and Milieu Therapist at Kartini. She works with the DTU and Outpatient programs. She has been functioning as a therapist in the Portland Community for the last 10 years. When not providing therapy for children and adolescents, working on home improvements, gardening, knitting, or enjoying her three beautiful and ACTIVE young children, she uses those 7 minutes to engage in her passion for African and Polynesian dance. She fondly remembers her undergraduate days at Spelman College in Atlanta GA, and received a graduate degree from Portland State University. She and her husband occasionally find the time for sleep, family outings, and participation in Polynesian community events. She can be identified by her sense of humor, and her unsolicited zealous offer to brandish pictures of her children.
is Kartini Clinic's licensed physical therapist, providing individual and group P.T. services for day treatment and outpatient clients. In addition, Dr. Russell teaches yoga to patients in the day treatment programs, and acts as Kartini Clinic's safety officer. She received her BS in 2000 from Portland State University, and her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Pacific University in 2003. She began her professional career working with pediatric clients (birth to 18) with developmental disabilities, where she learned the importance of incorporating fun into treatment and focusing on the unique strengths of each individual. In addition to her work at Kartini Clinic, she serves as physical therapist for the Washington School for the Deaf and provides per diem services for geriatric clients.
Deidre is a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who received her graduate training at Oregon Health & Sciences University. Prior to starting her nursing program, she spent time volunteering as a school tutor, mentor, and community services coordinator for children and families through Americorps and Girl Scouts Outreach. At the Kartini Clinic Deidre provides individual therapy, psychiatric assessment, and medication management services. In her free time, she loves to make traditional arts and crafts (sewing, knitting, and beading), listening to live music, reading, and playing with her French bulldog.
